IMCS – Intelligent Marine Chemical Solutions

Biocide-free foul-release coatings for hulls and propellers.

The IMCS SPEED range is a clear, two-component, waterborne coating system that stops marine growth from bonding to the surface. Less drag, higher speed and 10–15% lower fuel consumption, with no biocides released into the sea.

Formulated for professional applicators, shipyards and fleet operators.

Advanced marine coatings, antifouling systems, primers, and finishing solutions engineered for superior hydrodynamic performance and environmental protection.

Performance & Shield Additives

The IMCS SPEED foul-release range

One chemistry, tuned for each underwater surface. Every variant is a clear, waterborne, two-component coating system, supplied as A+B sets with application instructions.

IMCS SPEED Propeller

Waterborne two-component coating system

For propellers, shafts, thrusters and all moving underwater metal. Suits bronze, copper, aluminium and steel, and holds through cavitation and shear.

IMCS SPEED Hull Yacht

Waterborne two-component coating system

For motor-yacht hulls and fixed underwater parts at planing and cruising speeds. Replaces the antifouling layer with a smooth, low-energy surface on GRP, steel, aluminium and wood.

IMCS SPEED Hull Sailing

Waterborne two-component coating system

For sailing hulls, where surface smoothness decides boat speed. Tuned for displacement speeds and long periods at the mooring.

IMCS SPEED Racing

Waterborne two-component coating system

The smoothest formulation in the range, made first of all for jet-ski hulls, and for other racing hulls where surface finish decides tenths of a knot.

IMCS SPEED Flow

Waterborne two-component coating system

For seawater intakes and the other water-carrying pipework inside a vessel, and for the pump tunnel and jet nozzle of jet skis. Keeps internal waterways free of growth so flow and cooling stay at design capacity.

Foul-Release Technology

Physical release, not chemical action.

Conventional antifouling works by slowly leaching biocides. IMCS SPEED builds an ultra-smooth film with very low surface energy: organisms cannot form a strong bond, and whatever settles is shed as soon as the vessel moves.

Outside the biocide regulation

Because the mechanism is mechanical, IMCS SPEED is not a biocidal product under EU 528/2012 (BPR). No approval cycles, no leaching, no restricted waters.

Cleaner to apply

Water-based and free of flammable solvents. Tools wash with water. Not classified as dangerous goods for ADR, IMDG or ICAO transport.

Compliant by design

Meets the VOC Directive 2004/42/EC and the AFS Convention (EC 782/2003) on organotin-free hull systems. CLP/REACH safety data sheets accompany the first order.

Product Systems

IMCS SPEED sits on top of a complete professional coating system. The SHIELD and MX antifoulings are conventional products that work with biocidal active substances; only the SPEED range is biocide-free and works with a physical release mechanism. All IMCS products are formulated for professional and industrial use, not for retail.

Antifouling (biocidal)Conventional antifoulings with biocidal active substances: SHIELD 39-03, 39-04 and XT self-polishing antifoulings for up to 40 knots, SHIELD SPC multi-season copolymer tested in warm Mediterranean waters, MX MATRIX hard-matrix antifouling for up to 45 knots, and PROPELLER SINGLE for running gear.
Primers and fillersTwo-component EPOXY PRIMER rated C4/C5 to ISO 12944, PRIMER 1K tie-coat, PROPELLER PRIMER for submerged metals, and 100%-solids EPOXY FILLER N1 and N2 for keel and osmosis repairs.
Topcoats and decksIMCS 2K acrylic polyurethane, 1K polyurethane and 1K ALKYD enamels, plus 1K DECK ALKYD and waterborne 2K DECK anti-slip coatings with UV filters.
Varnishes and specialties2K ACRYLIC clear topcoat, 1K marine VARNISH, RUST CONVERTER for steel and cast iron, and ELASTIC INSULATOR liquid electrical tape for marine wiring.
ThinnersTHINNER 30, 45, 50 and 88 matched to each IMCS system, and pure ACETONE for surface preparation.

Company Profile

Founded by a chemist. Developed by a team.

IMCS was founded in 2021 by a chemist to develop high-performance materials for demanding marine applications. Today a team of chemists and other specialists formulates, tests and refines every product, stepping in where conventional solutions fall short or cannot adapt. Alongside coatings, IMCS provides accredited water, oil and fuel analyses and specialised environmental studies.

  • Strictly professional

Every product is formulated for professional and industrial use, from core systems to specialty formulations.

  • Measured performance

The IMCS SPEED range lowers hydrodynamic drag and friction, raising acceleration and range while cutting fuel burn.

  • Zero active biocides

The cured IMCS SPEED film contains no active biocides. The only preservatives present are the trace amounts that protect the product in the can from mould, and they play no part in how the coating works in the water.
